Design for musicians, artists and labels, by an independent artist.

Hey! I’m Jodie

A young woman with shoulder-length brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin standing next to a curving staircase in a modern building with light-colored walls. She wears a black off-the-shoulder top and gold jewelry, looking directly at the camera.

A musician, an independent artist and an avid designer. Welcome to Safe Hands Studio!

As an actively-releasing artist since 2019, I’ve become well-acquainted with the artist release cycle and - more importantly - the design needs of releasing and promoting your music in the modern-day music industry.

Through word of mouth and offering to help artists/labels with their releases, I’ve designed artists’ websites, merch, layouts for CD and vinyl, promotional assets for social media and helped artists translate their branding across the platforms that matter the most to them.

One of my bug-bears in the music industry is that artists are expected to learn all the things and do all the things, as well as creating the music! My role is to alleviate the onus on you doing everything, support your creative vision and communicate it in the spaces YOU want to be noticed!

A young woman with brown hair looking at a smartphone with stars and a castle drawn on the image, labeled 'Amelia Coburn' and phrases 'Sleepy Town' and 'Sleepy Town' in the background.
A webpage of a music album titled 'before close' featuring a song called 'hilda' by before close, Jodie Nicholson, and Joe Ramsey. The page includes a music player, album description, and track list. The background shows a landscape with trees and grass, with a cover image of an open door leading to an outdoor view.

Testimonials

“Working with Jodie was a pleasure. She communicated incredibly well, listened to my brief and delivered something that matched perfectly. She was open to suggestions and is one of the friendliest designers that I’ve worked with. Thank you Jodie!”

“Jodie is a rare find in this industry - her experience as both a musician and designer means she doesn’t just create visuals, she can build your brand. She took my very loose brief and turned it into a website and album artwork design that perfectly reflects my musical identity, balancing my vision with her own expertise and creative direction. I am so pleased with how it turned out that I have continued to commission Jodie on a regular basis ever since.”

— Amelia Coburn

“Working with Jodie was an absolute dream! She was so patient throughout the whole website design process, always adhering to what I wanted with such detail. With the t-shirt design, Jodie took my ideas and created something that I was so happy with. And also my vinyl sleeve design was incredible! She had taken a previous design and developed it further, and so meticulously too. I can’t recommend Jodie enough! ”
